murmur

so it was a friend’s birthday yesterday, and I met up for some birthday cocktails at a little hidden gem in a laneway in the city…Murmur…just off little Bourke St in that action-packed area (between Elizabeth and Queen…right near a favourite coffee place, which I shall post about another time…)

Murmur is a small place upstairs with a huge cocktail list and knowingly pretentious bartenders…but then, where are the modest barmen?

worth checking out if you’re after a drink “off the beaten track” so to speak…Melbourne is all about the hidden places down the dingy laneways, those ones that someone shows you and if you’re not drunk you may remember how to get there and it might even become a favourite…but some of these hidden secrets become so popular that you can’t get a seat! (hello Sister Bella…) while I am a fan of all places hidden and secretive, the moment they become mainstream something magical¬†disappears, everyone can go there! everyone knows where it is! and while I do enjoy the better known places around Melbourne as well such as Madame Brussels or even Rooftop Bar, there is something great about going to an unheard of place that you have to lookup so you can find it (thank you Google Maps!) and you get to discover as you head upstairs that there is a small club of people who know this haunt and it makes it more exciting…maybe that’s just me…

but then you’ll have to check it out to find out for yourself…

and then there was…nothing…

so after the excitement of finally making my own blog subsided…I got really busy!! and now I feel terrible knowing that I have posted nothing since my first post! how slack is that?

anyway not to make excuses but I really have been flat out with studies, assignments and work!

and of course I’m still waiting for my camera…soon soon I hope!

so I’m now officially on 2 week break, thank god!! but i also have to find a new place to live, which does in fact take a lot of time and energy! not only just trawling through the crap on gumtree but actually visiting each place and meeting the potential flatmates and within that 15-30 minutes you might get trying to simultaneously gauge if you like the people, the place, the room, the bathroom, the location and if they like you and are you giving off a good impression!?! and ok I like them but could I live with them?? ahhh crazy tiring stuff..but I’m being positive and I’m sure my hard work will pay off and i shall be (hopefully) moving into an amazing place very soon with some fantastic new flatmates…

cross your fingers for me…

i promise to be back soon with real posts…it’s hard at the moment but there is now free time for real inspiration…rather than the usual daily rush about town! also Melbourne has recently decided that even though it was officially spring it needed a little more winter…so i’m sure everyone is enjoying this sudden cold (when we were all looking forward to the sun and some warmth finally!) soon soon…

maybe cross your toes we get some warm sunny days too…haha!!

Here goes!

Well, here it is…my very first post on my first blog! How exciting!
I have been wanting to start this for a long time and really the only thing holding me back has been my lack of digital camera…that IS a problem! However i will be getting one shortly, and then we can really start this thing!

I have recently moved back to Melbourne after travelling and living in Brisbane for a little bit, and of course, missing Melbourne terribly! Though I’m not Australian by nationality…I feel completely at home here and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else! For now at least…until immigration decide otherwise..so I’m back home in Melbourne and on a constant re-discovery from street fashion to the lovely laneways, the next best coffee or another groovy cafe…ahh Melbourne…what’s not to love!

Also i’ll be posting anything that takes my fancy, mainly design based and I’ll try to include some of the many fabulous blogs I seem to spend hours of my life on, so inspiring! So comment away and I hope you enjoy!
